Noosa North Shore Campground

MODE’s landscape architects, graphic designers and architects collaborated to revitalise the much loved tourism destination of the Noosa North Shore Campground through the implementation of responsive and environmentally sensitive facilities, amenities and wayfinding systems, all of which consider the cultural, historical and environmental significance of the area and its surrounds.

Client: Noosa Shire Council
Location: Noosa, QLD

Currently in progress, our wayfinding team aims to provide users with an intimate
and immersive experience while improving the functionality, flexibility and capacity
of the site. The wayfinding and interpretive signage solution makes the natural environment easily navigable for pedestrians and vehicles. This solution also provides a safe and educational experience for users where they are given a more in-depth understanding of native flora and fauna around them, and how their actions impact the surrounding environment. The proposed design and increase in capacity of the campground presents Noosa Council with a potential economic and tourism gain, however the environmental sensitivities and processes of this site have needed to be considered in all aspects of the design and planning phases of this redevelopment to ensure the on-going sustainability of this site. The site posed many challenges from strong prevailing winds, sensitive ecosystems, environmental degradation and failing infrastructure. Integrated design solutions have been utilised to work with these challenges while maximising the existing land form and restoring environmental diversity.
