Department of Agriculture & Water Resources

MODE partnered with JLL and the Department of Agriculture & Water Resources (DAWR) to design and deliver the fitout of their Brisbane workplace.

Client: JLL / DAWR
Location: Brisbane, QLD

Working closely with the stakeholder user groups, MODE developed a collective design outcome that carefully responds to the brief that had high complexities, both for staffing collocation and operational requirements in a Commonwealth secure environment. The new fitout has been designed to address operational procedures, staff engagement and department cross collaboration. The existing building at Qantas Drive has a number of environmental issues that needed to be considered in the design. Requirements were to increase occupation numbers, improve synergies between working teams through Activity Based Workplace (ABW) design, and the removal of some earlier building works that were established for previous occupants. MODE’s specialist team implemented placemaking and wayfinding strategies that extended the departments brand identity into the built environment. Each wing and floor is themed differently to create an engaging and memorable workplace for users.
