USC Engineering + Science Facility

This building is designed to accommodate two distinct faculties -Engineering and Paramedics

Client: University of the Sunshine Coast
Location: Sippy Downs, QLD

Within the Engineering faculty are hydraulic, geotechnical, structural and physics components, each with their own specific requirements. The building is segmented into two stages, with the main spaces connected by shared facilities. A skillion roof was included to create a sense of grandeur and monumental rhythms along the main façade, while also wrapping at its end to define the edge of the campus. Flexible open spaces accommodate the specialised nature of the teaching, testing and experimentation of both the Engineering and the Paramedic facilities. An industrial aesthetic along with natural ventilation and illumination was employed to the two main flexible teaching spaces, maximising its sustainable credentials.
