MODE were engaged to restore the dilapidated and rundown state of both the Post Office and the residential portion attached at the rear.

Several site visits were conducted to thoroughly investigate the condition of the building. Each section was documented in a report to form a scope of works for remediation and restoration work. Close consultation with the caretaker and Australia Post was also taken into consideration to ensure that the project not only meets the clients expectation but also improve the customer experience.

Each timber element that was rotting such as entablature, handrails, windows and doors were removed and replaced ‘like for like’. Ornaments, rustication, cornices and pilaster were also cleaned, removed of impurities and repainted with the approved colours of the nominated Postal Facilities schemes.

The access and entrances to the Post Office were also upgraded with accessible ramps, tactile indicators and handrails to comply to current NCC. The entrance tiles were removed as it posed as slipping hazard were replaced with new nonslip tile pavers.
