MODE as Principal Designers within the CIP consortium (CPB Contractors, Pacific Partnerships, Morrison & Co, Cushman & Wakefield and Honeywell) have reached financial close on the Waikeria Corrections and Treatment Facility project.

This is a landmark project delivering both a high security correctional facility and a forensic mental health facility for the New Zealand Government. The project has an approximate total value of NZ$750 million, with early works already commenced on site.

The new facility is set to commence operation in 2022. The project comprises the design of a new purpose built correctional centre delivering accommodation for 500 prisoners with an integrated secure mental health treatment precinct, providing world class care for an additional 100 prisoners. The new facility is located on the existing Waikeria Prison site in the Waikato region of New Zealand’s North Island.

MODE Principal, Trevor Barker said “This project brings a level of innovation which is important to the success of ‘Change Lives, Shape Futures’ for the Department of Corrections. The Waikato region will gain real lasting benefits from this significant project”

This is the third time that MODE have been successful in the New Zealand market which confidently speaks to MODE’s commitment to the New Zealand marketplace.

The MODE Auckland Office has been in operation for eight years and has recently moved to new expanded offices in Parnell.

With this project, MODE are providing a coordinated design consultancy of Architects, Landscape Architects, Interior Designers and Graphic Designers. MODE have also engaged with Chow Hill Architects as local consultants in the Waikato region.

MODE are keenly working with the CIP team and the New Zealand Government to deliver a world class facility that delivers on the Department of Corrections key priorities and long-term goals.
